Advancing Maternal Health: Training and Support for Primary Healthcare Nurses in Lagos

On 9th March, 2026, Noella Foundation, in partnership with the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, hosted a Maternal Care Training for fifty (50) nurses drawn from Primary Health Care centres across Lagos.

The training focused on strengthening nurses’ capacity in respectful maternity care, clinical decision-making, emergency response, and patient-centered service delivery within primary healthcare settings. Participants were trained by experienced facilitators, including Dr. Ololade Fadipe and Dr. Lateef-Yusuf Mary Modupeola, who provided practical, case-based learning to support improved maternal health outcomes at the community level.

The programme was further reinforced with a follow-up donation visit on 10th March, 2026 to Iwaya Primary Health Care Centre, where essential hospital supplies and equipment worth ₦10 million were donated to strengthen service delivery and improve the facility’s capacity to provide quality maternal care.

Together, the training and donation intervention reflect the Foundation’s continued commitment to strengthening primary healthcare systems, equipping frontline health workers, and improving access to quality maternal health services in underserved communities.
